Vi har undersökt ett verksamhetskritiskt system i en större organisation för att se hur systemet är konstruerat och hur förvaltningsarbetet bedrivs för att undvika avbrott i systemet. Då det är särskilt viktigt att dessa system har hög tillgänglighet har vi försökt lyfta fram faktorer som visat sig vara särskilt viktiga för att uppnå hög tillgänglighet. Undersökningen har genomförts som en fallstudie där vi intervjuat personer med olika befattningar inom organisationen. Vi presenterar även ett antal rekommendationer som vi tror kan minska risken för avbrott i det undersökta systemet..

Avsikten med vårt arbete är att undersöka vilka aktiviteter som en förvaltningsorganisation utför på sina IT-system och om det finns några skillnader i dessa beroende på om organisationen förvaltar åt sig själva eller om det utförs för kunds räkning. Detta som ett led i att ge de som arbetar med, eller kommer att arbeta med, systemförvaltning en inblick i eventuella skillnader mellan förvaltning av egna system och förvaltning av en eller flera kunders system. De slutsatser vi dragit ur denna undersökning är att det inte förekommer skillnader i vilka aktiviteter som ingår i förvaltningsarbetet, däremot varierar det i vilken utsträckning man väljer att utföra dem..

Vi har undersökt hur de ansvariga i en organisation arbetar med informationssäkerheten i ett verksamhetskritiskt system. Undersökningen har gjorts hos två organisationer i tidningsbranschen. Många organisationer tar inte hot och risker på allvar och inser inte vilka konsekvenser ett avbrott kan ge. Administrativa system som från början var tänkt som ett hjälpmedel för att få en effektivare organisation har blivit verksamhetskritiska. För organisationer som har Verksamhetskritiska system är det viktigt att arbetet med informationssäkerheten görs enligt fastställda rutiner och regler.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system har genom historien setts som komplexa, problematiska och verksamhetskritiska. ERP-projekt kräver ofta nära samarbeten mellan många parter. I ett sådant projekt blir tillit till IT-konsultbolaget/leverantören en viktig faktor och kan vara avgörande för projektets utfall. Trots detta har relativt lite forskning problematiserat hur ERP-projekt påverkas av bristande tillit mellan leverantör och kund. Arbetet undersöker grafikkortets lämplighet att tolka L-system i realtid. L-system är ett strängomskrivningssystem som beskriver strukturen hos botaniska former. Lsystem tolkas med hjälp av sköldpaddstolkningen för att få en geometrisk tolkning. För att utvärdera om grafikkortet är lämpat att tolka L-system i realtid har två system implementerats. Det ena systemet tolkar L-system på processorn och det andra systemet tolkar L-system på grafikkortet.

This thesis examines if commercial-of-the-shelf (COTS) systems meet the needs in different types of organizations. This was investigated through a case study of a COTS system. The system is built for contact centers and used in different types of organizations. Contextual inquiries with users from six different organizations were held together with interviews with stakeholders of the system. This gave an understanding for how the system is used and the needs to be met in the different organizations were recognized.

As part of an internship at Ericsson, this report was written to enhance the understanding of how it is to develop a system that is well established at the workplace.
